| 英文描述 | The algae PROTOTHECA is a pathogen of low virulence in several species. Outbreaks of mastitis due to this agent have been seen. The reason for these outbreaks is unknown, and the organism is difficult to clear from affected cattle. In most cases there are no systemic signs of illness. Dx by culture. A culture and cull strategy has been used to eliminate this organism from affected herds, but it is common in the dairy environment and should be considered an environmental pathogen. |
